Luke Stanczyk joined the Illinois Institute of Technology staff in July 2015 as the Department's Sports Information Director, the university's director of athletic marketing and communications. He will serve as the main media and sports information contact for all of the department's 16 athletic programs.
Since Stanczyk's arrival at Illinois Tech, Scarlet Hawk athletic has experienced social media growth by over 250%, has partenered with Illinois Media School to provide live audio to game webcasting, has successfully live streamed all home events in high-definition, and has begun a live stats operation for all home games. In addition, Scarlet Hawk teams have been featured in several media outlets, including the Chicago Tribune, thanks to Stanczyk's collaboration with Illinois Tech's Marketing and Communications Department.
Stanczyk comes to Illinois Tech by way of Benedictine University in Lisle, Illinois, where he served on the school's Athletic Marketing and Communications staff for the past three years as an intergral part of BenU's day-to-day operations. From 2012-14, he was the Athletic Communication Specalist for the NCAA Division III school, serving as the department's SID for men's and women's cross country, men's and women's track and field, and women's tennis while also writing various press release, assisting in management with the department's website and social media accounts, and doing play-by-play and color commentary for many Eagles athletic teams. He juggled all of these responsibilites as an undergrad, as Stanczyk was a full-time student with internships at ESPN AM 1000 and Comcast Sportsnet Chicago while serving as Athletic Communciation Specialist.
Upon receiving his bachelor's degree in Communication Arts in May of 2014, Stanczyk was promoted to Assistant Sports Information Director for the 2014-15 school year. He added softball to his slate of sports as the lead SID contact, as well as coordinating all of Benedictine's athletic broadcasts and creating all videos for the department's banquets and special events for the year.
Stanczyk is a member of College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). He is a participant in CoSIDA's Mentorship Program as a peer mentor for younger Sports Information Directors and Athletics Communications Professionals.
