Baltes, Rosati Dumangane & Porter Earn NACC Student-Athlete of the Week Honors In October

Milwaukee, Wis. - Gabriella Baltes and Joanne Porter of women's soccer, and Maddalena Elisa Rosati Dumangane of women's tennis were recipients of Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) Student-Athlete of the Week honors in the month of October, 2025.

Baltes, a senior defender and Biochemistry major from Plymouth, Minnesota, was named the NACC Women's Soccer Defensive Student-Athlete of the Week on October 7th, for the week of September 29th through October 5th. Baltes continued to lead the Scarlet Hawks defensive play the week of September 29th, as Illinois Tech limited their opponents to only 4 shots and no goals as the Hawks went 2-0 in NACC play. Baltes also added a goal in each match. On Wednesday, October 1st, at Benedictine, Baltes helped limit the Eagles to only one shot, while scoring the team's 2nd goal in the 13th minute off a free-kick scramble at the goal mouth in the Hawks' 5-0 victory. On Saturday, October 4th, in their home match against Marian, Baltes and the defense allowed only 3 shots, and Baltes scored the team's 4th goal in the 28th minute off a corner kick in the team's eventual 7-0 win over the Sabres. Baltes now has 5 goals on the season for 10 points, and has led the Hawks' defense in shutting out all NACC opponents all season. 

Porter, a junior forward/midfielder and Computer Science major from Bend, Oregon, was named the NACC Women's Soccer Offensive Student-Athlete of the Week on October 14th, for the week of October 6th through October 12th. Porter was absolutely dominant in the Scarlet Hawks win over Lakeland on October 8th. She collected 9 points in the contest with 4 goals and an assist in 90 minutes played. Porter's goals all came in the second half scoring in the 49th, 58th, and 2 goals in the 80th minute. Her individual efforts helped lead the Hawks to 13-0 win over the Muskies last Wednesday.

Rosati Dumangane, a junior Electrical Engineering major from Milan, Italy, was named the NACC Women's Tennis Student-Athlete of the Week on October 8th. Rosati Dumangane went 4-0 in her #2 matches the week of September 29th as the Scarlet Hawks went 2-0 and remained undefeated in NACC play with wins over Wisconsin Lutheran and defending champion Edgewood. In the Saturday, October 4th 7-0 home match victory against Wisconsin Lutheran, Rosati Dumangane went 2-0 on the day, winning her singles match against Joelle Smith 6-1, 6-0, and her doubles match with partner Maia Lecuona Ramos 6-1 over Amelia Kelley and Sophia Schroeder. In the Sunday, October 5th showdown at Edgewood in which the Scarlet Hawks won 4-3, Rosati Dumangane went 2-0, winning her singles match 6-1, 3-6, 6-4 over the Eagles' Hattie Plenty, and her doubles match with Lecuona Ramos 6-1 over Christina Ekkela and Kaitlyn Narkis. For the season, Rosati Dumangane is 8-0 in NACC singles play and 7-1 in NACC doubles play.
