Rose, Francis Earn Scarlet Hawk Of The Week Honors

Chicago, Ill. - Don Rose of men's swimming and diving and London Francis of women's volleyball are the recipients of Scarlet Hawk of the Week honors for the week of October 20th.

Rose, a senior butterfly and freestyle swimmer and Biomedical Engineering major from Chicago, Illinois, took home the sole first-place finish for the Scarlet Hawks in their triangular meet with Wheaton and host UChicago this past Saturday. In his first butterfly event of the season, Rose outraced several swimmers from nationally ranked (#4) UChicago in the 100-yard butterfly to take first place with a time of 52.18. Rose also finished fourth in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 21.68, and was a leg in both the second-place 400-yard freestyle relay team as well the third-place 200-yard medley relay team for the Hawks. 

Francis, a senior right-side/middle hitter and Forensic Chemistry major from Jacksonville, Florida, was a force on both sides of the ball this past week, as she finished with 9 total blocks and 15 kills as the Scarlet Hawks went 2-1 in match play. Included in that performance was an 8-kill, 7 total blocks effort in the Scarlet Hawks match at Lakeland on October 23rd. For the week, Francis averaged 1.29 blocks per set and 2.22 kills per set. Francis currently ranks 11th in blocks per set at 0.75 in Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) play.
