Kyle Birch
Title: Assistant Coach

Kyle Birch joins the Illinois Tech women's basketball coaching staff for the 2017-18 season. He is sure to bring many qualities and attributes that will be an asset to Scarlet Hawk basketball.

Birch comes to Tech by way of Dominican University, where he was an assistant coach under Gabby Johnson. On Johnson's staff, Birch aided in scouting, local and national recruiting, film and statistics breakdown, practice planning, and athletic and academic mentoring. In his one season on DU's staff, the Stars saw a large improvement. Dominican increased its win total by five games while seeing a dramatic uptick in defensive production, decreasing its points allowed per game by over 12 points and opponents field goal percentage by over 6%. 

Prior to Dominican, Birch served as after a successful stint as Head Girls Basketball Coach at Sarah Goode STEM Academy. In his four seasons, Birch guided his program to a record of 53-21 with back-to-back-to-back conference championships in the Chicago Public School Blue South league. He handled all aspects of planning for the three-division program. His teams also achieved in the classroom, as the student-athletes also carried a 3.6 overall GPA while completing several college credit courses.
In addition to his high school success, Birch has served as a U-16 head coach and U-17 assistant coach at Lady Reign basketball in Chicago, recruiting several Chicagoland athletes and preparing them for the NCAA scene. 
Away from the courts, Birch is a psychology teacher at Sarah Goode and has been employed in the Chicago Public Schools system since 2010. He resides in Chicago.
