Scarlet Hawks Show Grit, but fall 3-1

Madison, Wisconsin- Illinois Institute of Technology lost consecutive matches, and fell to Maranatha Baptist 3-1. Tech fell to 4-11 overall, while Maranatha Baptist improved to 10-3 overall.

 

Game Scores: 28-26, 25-16, 25-23, 25-20

 

How it HappenedTech was able to spread the offensive responsibilities more evenly, having two new faces reach double figures in kills, but their stud, Karen Marrufo-Zuburan was unable to maintain her efficiency from previous matches. For the first time all weekend, she recorded a negative box score for offense (-.048). Maranatha was also lethal on defense, who was led by Mckenzie Janke. She led the game in digs (25).

Scarlet Hawk Standouts: Natalie Freund and Sarah Hassell picked up the pace on offense, and reached double figures in kills.. Freund led the team with 12 and Hassell was second with 10.

Up Next: The lady Scarlet Hawks travel to Sheboygan, Wisconsin and face Lakeland College on Tuesday, the eighth of October.
