CHICAGO, Ill. – The Illinois Tech men's soccer team opposed the Grizzlies of Franklin College on Sunday, hosting the Indiana school as both teams played its second match in as many days. While the Scarlet Hawks (2-3) heavily outshot the Grizzlies (2-5), Tech was defeated 2-1.

How it Happened

• The Scarlet Hawks came out of the gates firing on offense, taking eight shots in the first 20 minutes of action. However, Franklin keeper Elliott Clark, saving all five of the shots he saw on net.
• Franklin was able to slow the Tech offense over the half's final 25 minutes, holding the Hawks to two shots over that span. During this period, the Grizzlies benefitted from an own goal to bring a 1-0 lead into halftime.
• Just 50 seconds into the second half, Franklin was able to add to its lead. Jordan Thomas was able to score via an Austin Boyer assist.
• The Scarlet Hawks were able to answer back. Christopher Reed took a Jack Critzer pass in the 61st minute and scored to cut the Grizzlies lead in half.
• Tech had a look in the 78th minute to tie things, but a bottom center shot from Michael Kaczowka was saved by Clark in the team's final shot on goal of the match.

Scarlet Hawk Standouts

• Reed scored the team's lone goal of the match off of a Critzer assist.
• Kaczowka, Luigi Michelin, and Zach Whritenour all took three shots to lead the team. Kaczowka also had two shots on goal along with Reed and David de la Fuente.
