Chicago, Ill. - Hosting their first meet since January of 2023, the Illinois Tech swimming and diving team welcomed in Lewis University into Ekco Pool on Saturday for a Dual meet.
The Flyers outpaced the Scarlet Hawks on this day, winning the women's contest 162-50 and the men's contest 150-70.
Illinois Tech still was able to achieve notable performances in their third meet of the season.
On the women's side,
Claire van Biljon took first place in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 25.01. She also finished second in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 54.80, just under a second behind first place Riley Byers of Lewis.
Maria Plencner took top honors in the women's diving competition with a score of 127.25.
On the men's side, the 400-yard medley relay team A of Tristan Minarik, Griffin Colomer, David Halmy and Ian Novak took second place with a time of 3:45.68, just under 5 seconds off the lead pace. Bjarne van Oord took first place in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 1:56.39, almost 4 seconds faster than the next finisher. He also finished third in the 200-yard IM at 1:58.38, just under one second off the lead pace. Nicholas Kremin took second place in the 200-yard butterfly event with a time of 2:06.67. River Maners took second in the 50-yard freestyle at 22.70 and third place in the 100-yard freestyle at 49.62. Mark Klinchin, racing outside of long distance events, finished in third place in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:47.60. Rounding out the third place finishers were Colomer in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:21.80, and Halmy in the 50-yard freestyle at 22.75. Evan Standish took top diving honors with a score of 199.70.
