DeKalb, Ill. - In a Monday night contest, the Illinois Tech Scarlet Hawks men's basketball team traveled an hour and a half north to take on NCAA Division I Northern Illinois University Huskies in a non-conference game. The Hawks and Huskies have previously met twice, with the last meeting taking place during the 2018-2019. In just their third meeting, the Huskies pulled away with the victory, defeating the Hawks 107-55
First Half (Northern Illinois 54- Illinois Tech 21)

A dunk by the Huskies opened up the Monday night contest at 19 minutes, 36 seconds. The Hawks were able to answer with a 3-pointer from Garrison Carter off a Caden Gigstad assist at 19:02. From there, the Hawks briefly led the Huskies with another 3-pointer by Carter and a free throw by Joshua Iguade. After the Huskies took the lead, the Hawks were able to tie it back up at the 15:13 mark with a Andrew Veon 3-pointer off a Sultan Abuissa assist. From that point on, the Huskies took control of the game, starting off with a 8-0 run before the Hawks would record another basket. Offensively, the Huskies dominated play as the clock ticked closer to halftime. By the halftime buzzer, the Huskies led the Hawks 54-21.

After halftime, the Huskies remained in control of the Hawks, building their lead for the remaining 20 minutes of action. The Hawks would pick up 6 points between 12:44 and 11:06 when Dario Biaggi made a free throw and a 3-pointer and Rodney Murphy made a layup. For the remaining five minutes of action, the Huskies held a 16-10 advantage over the Hawks to close out the game. At the final buzzer, the Hawks fell to the Huskies 107-55.
