Men's Lacrosse Scores 11 in Road Victory, Extends Winning Streak to 4

Beloit, Wis. - Up north, the Illinois Tech Scarlet Hawks men's lacrosse team hit the road to take on the Beloit College Buccaneers in Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference action. 

With just a few games left on the 2023 regular season schedule, the Hawks (4-2, 7-5) were able to pick up the victory as they defeated the Buccaneers (2-10, 1-5) 11-1. 

The Hawks are currently on a 4-game winning streak. 

First Quarter (Illinois Tech 3  - Beloit 1)

  • The first three goals of the contest came in favor of the Hawks throughout the first quarter. On an unassisted play, Ryan Arbour scored the Hawks first goal of the game at the 13:56 mark. Arbour then assisted Aidan Gans on the Hawks second goal at 6:16. The third goal of the game came at 5:36 when Jackson Brass scored off a Spencer Meace assist.

  • The Buccaneers only goal of the contest came with 1:40 remaining in the first quarter. In a man-up situation, Keller Tardiff scored off a Jordan Rice assist. 

Second Quarter (Illinois Tech 5 - Beloit 0)

  • Meace scored off an unassisted play to begin the second quarter to give the Hawks a 4-1 lead with 11:27 remaining until halftime. 

  • Brass then scored his second goal of the game, this time unassisted at 9:57. 

  • Jonathan Vitale scored from a Kaleab Uebelher assist at 6:25, putting the Hawks ahead 6-1. 

  • Yano Porter then scored an unassisted goal at 1:58.

  • Then, with 2 seconds remaining until halftime, Meace scored to put the Hawks ahead 8-1.

Third Quarter (Illinois Tech 2 - Beloit 0)

  • At the 11:10 mark in the third quarter, Adam Mulka scored an unassisted goal for the Hawks 9th of the game. 

  • Brass earned himself a hat-trick at the 6:39 mark off a Juan Bohorquez assist.

Fourth Quarter (Illinois Tech 1 - Beloit 0)

  • The final goal of the game and the lone goal of the fourth quarter came with 3:05 remaining when Jaeger Breault scored off a Ty Dwyer assist to give the Hawks the 11-1 victory. 

 Scarlet Hawk Standouts

  • Jackson Brass earned himself a hat-trick for the Hawks. Brass finished with 8 shots, 5 on goal, and 3 ground balls. 

  • Spencer Meace scored 3 goals during the contest. Meace ended with 1 assist, 6 shots, all of which were on goal, 7 ground balls, and 3 caused turnovers. 

  • Splitting time in goal, Zane Handy and Kyle Johnson combined for 15 saves on 16 shots for a .938 save percentage. 

Buccaneers Standouts

  • Keller Tardiff scored the Buccaneers lone goal. Tardiff finished with 2 shots, both on goal, 10 ground balls, and 2 caused turnovers. 

  • Jordan Rice assisted the lone goal. Rice recorded 4 shots, 3 on goal, 4 ground balls, and 1 caused turnover. 

Inside the Box Score

  • The Hawks finished with 53 total shots, 28 on goal, while the Buccaneers had 22 shots, 16 on goal. 

  • The Hawks led in ground balls 28-22. 

  • In turnovers, the Buccaneers had 26 while the Hawks had 17.

  • The Hawks were 25-of-28 in clears while the Buccaneers were 26-of-27.

  • Beloit held the majority of the face-offs, winning 9-of-16.

Two games remain on the Hawks 2023 regular season schedule, with both contests taking place at Stuart Field. On Tuesday, the Hawks will welcome the Benedictine University Eagles for a 6:00 PM NACC contest.
