Plainfield, Ill. - The Illinois Tech women's tennis team kicked off their 2023-24 season with a pair of matches at the North Central (College) Invite at Plainfield East High School.

The Scarlet Hawks dropped a pair of matches, falling in the opener to Loras 8-1, while losing the second match to host North Central 9-0.

Hannah Markiewicz secured the only match victory in the opener with Loras, as she defeated the Duhawk's Dorothy Deans 6-4, 7-5 in the number three singles match.

Markiewicz teamed up with Carlotta Bernad-Canovas in the number two doubles match against Loras, losing a close battle 8-5.

First-year Paige Geiger made her collegiate debut, securing four game victories across both matches.

Returning senior Ashley Dame claimed six game victories on the day.
