Madison, Wis. - In the first Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) contest of the 2023 season, the Illinois Tech Scarlet Hawks men's soccer team took the road to take on the Edgewood College Eagles. After a hard fought contest, the Hawks (1-2-3, 0-1) fell to the Eagles (4-1-1, 1-0) by a final score of 2-1.

In the 23rd minute, the Eagles earned a free kick after a Hawk foul. Aldon Lumani took the kick for the Eagles, sending the ball to the corner of the 6-yard box. With both sides attempting to gain control, the ball eventually bounced out to Austin Hauser. Hauser took a one-touch, right footed shot, finding the back of the net to put the Eagles ahead 1-0. Lumani was awarded the assist.

The Eagles second goal of the game just two minutes later in the 24th minute. Miguel Konde Gwo scored off an Austin Hauser assist when Hauser slotted a pass right across the 6-yard box to an oncoming Konde Gwo. Konde Gwo slid, hitting the ball into the net, and put the Eagles ahead 2-0.

The Hawks lone goal came late in the game, in the 86th minute. After the Hawks earned a corner kick, the ball was passed around between multiple Hawks. Eventually, the ball ended up at the feet of Logan Garcia. L. Garcia took a one touch shot, but a deflection caused the ball to come right back to him. This time, L. Garcia was able to slot the shot on frame into the lower near post corner to get the Hawks on the board. After 90 minutes, the Hawks fell by a final score of 2-1.
