Chicago, Ill. - Traveling five miles south of campus, the Illinois Tech Scarlet Hawks women's volleyball team took on the University of Chicago Maroons in a non-conference contest on Wednesday, September 6. Unfortunately, the Hawks (1-3) were unable to keep up with the offensive pace of the Maroons (3-1) dropping the match 3-0.

Throughout the second set, the Maroons once again ran away with the lead, taking set two 25-15. A kill by Briar Moore made the set a 2-point game at11-9 in favor of the Maroons. The Hawks kept the set close, once again coming within two after another Moore kill made the score 14-12 in favor of the host. From that point though, the Maroons held all the control, finishing the set on a 11-3 run to take set two.
Set Three - Maroons 25, Hawks 17

In the third set, the Hawks put up a tough fight, but ultimately fell to the Maroons 25-17. To begin the set, the Hawks held an early lead, but it would last long before the Maroons went on a 6-0 run. The Hawks would put up a battle, but were unable to close in on the Maroons lead, eventually dropping the set and ending the match.

They open the invitational against the University of Wisconsin-Platteville Pioneers (3-1) at 7:00 PM on Friday. Then, on Saturday, the Hawks take on the Bethel University Royals (0-3) at 12:00 PM before going against the Carroll University Pioneers (1-3) at 2:00 PM.
