Women's Basketball Loses At MSOE

Milwaukee, Wis. -  A 6-6 tie four minutes into the opening quarter turned out to be the high water mark for the Illinois Tech women's basketball team Saturday afternoon in Milwaukee, as the host MSOE Raiders took control of the game shortly after that on their way to a 74-47 victory. The loss dropped the Scarlet Hawks to 3-7 in Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) play, and to 4-14 overall. MSOE improved to 7-3 in NACC play, and to 13-6 overall.

The Raiders took advantage of the Hawks being short-handed in the paint, using a 34-14 advantage in points in the paint for their path to victory. 

First Half (MSOE 39 - Illinois Tech 18)
After a first quarter that had the Scarlet Hawks within seven points heading into the second quarter, MSOE outscored the Hawks 19-5 in the second frame to hold a 21-point lead at halftime. Allie Sillo led the Hawks with 6 points in the opening half.

Second Half (MSOE 35 - Illinois Tech 29) 
Although the Scarlet Hawks couldn't cut into the MSOE lead in the third quarter, they did play the Raiders even in the third period, with each team scoring 14 points. The Hawks continued to play better offensively in the final quarter, adding 15 more points, but the Raiders put 21 points on the board in the final frame for the final margin of victory. Kaya Jones led the way for the Hawks in the second half with 18 points.

  • Kaya Jones led the Hawks with 20 points, shooting 7-9 from the field and 6-7 from the free throw line.
  • Julia Bucci added 10 points and 5 rebounds.

  • Nicole Levine paced the Raiders with 17 points and 5 assists, while adding 6 rebounds and 3 steals.
