Men’s Soccer Drops Road Contest

River Forest, Ill. – Just outside of Chicago, the Illinois Tech Scarlet Hawks men's soccer team faced off against the Dominican University Stars in a Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) match. The Hawks (6-4-2, 2-4) entered the match looking to remain in the win column while the Stars (7-3-3, 4-0-2) looked to keep their conference undefeated streak alive. Although the Hawks out shot the Stars by one shot, it would be the Stars who kept their goal alive. Following the 90 minutes of action, the Stars secured a 1-0 victory over the Hawks.  

HOW IT HAPPENED 

  • The lone goal of the contest came in the 18th minute of action in favor of the home team. Oscar Montejano scored the unassisted goal for the Stars with a shot low and set on net.  

  • Although the Hawks recorded 4 shots in the first half and 6 shots in the second half, they were only able to place 2 on target and were unable to find the back of the net.

  • Illinois Tech out shot Dominican 10-9 but were out shot in shots on goal 5-2 

  • 4-of-5 corner kicks went in favor of the Hawks 

  • The Hawks recorded 4 saves while the Stars recorded 2 

UP NEXT 

On Saturday, October 12th the Hawks will return to action when they host the Lakeland University Muskies to Stuart Field for a 1:00 PM NACC match.
