Terre Haute, Ind. - After completing their brief two-game road swing with a 72-54 loss at Rose-Hulman on Saturday afternoon, the Illinois Tech men's basketball team is ready to return home for some home court cooking, as the Scarlet Hawks will play their next six games at the Keating Center, including a pair of home games book-ended around the Thanksgiving holiday this coming week.
The Scarlet Hawks (0-4) will host DePauw University on Wednesday, November 27th at 5:00 PM, following the women's game against the University of Hartford at 3:00 PM. Then on Saturday, November 30th, the Scarlet Hawks welcome the North Central Cardinals to the Keating Center at 1:00 PM in another non-conference matchup. After the Thanksgiving holiday week of play is complete, the Hawks will host four more games of their six-game home stand at the Keating Center, all Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference matchups against Marian (Wednesday, December 4th at 7:00 PM), MSOE (Saturday, December 7th at 3:15 PM), Wisconsin Lutheran (Saturday, December 14th at 1:00 PM) and St. Norbert College (Wednesday, December 18th at 5:00 PM). This will give the opportunity for the Scarlet Hawks to gain some momentum heading into the semester break.
Against the Fightin' Engineers, the Scarlet Hawks held an early 5-point advantage at 12-7 five minutes into the first half. Rose-Hulman would battle back to take a 21-16 lead before Illinois Tech closed out the half with an 11-9 run to pull within 3 points at the half, trailing 30-27. A 20-13 run by Rose-Hulman to open the second half gave the Fightin' Engineers a double-digit lead at 50-40, with the Hawks unable to get any closer than the 10-point deficit for the remainder of the game.
