Women's Basketball Notches 3rd Win In A Row With Dominating Win Over Mount Mary

Chicago, Ill. - With a jubilant crowd of middle-schoolers in attendance for their Education Game, the Illinois Tech women's basketball team jumped out to a 14-0 lead against non-conference opponent Mount Mary, en route to a 76-49 victory for the Scarlet Hawks over the Blue Angels Wednesday afternoon at the Keating Center. For the Hawks, it marked their third consecutive victory, and improved their overall record to 4-5. The Blue Angels fell to 5-6.

The team welcomed students from Bronzeville Classical Elementary school for the Wednesday matinee game, and the students cheered on the Scarlet Hawks in their 27-point victory. On Tuesday, the team went to the school to do collaborative STEM experiments with grades 5-8. On this day, the team welcomed the students to the Keating Center to see another kind of teamwork in action.

"What a great game environment," said Head Coach Carissa Sain. "We are so grateful to Bronzeville Classical Elementary for their willingness to partner with us for today's education game. The team had so much fun doing stem projects with the students yesterday and to have them in the gym today was an absolute blast" said Sain.

The Scarlet Hawks never trailed in the game, with the 14-0 first-quarter run being their biggest run of the game. The Hawks' biggest lead was 30 points with 6:52 remaining in the 4th quarter.

  • Julia Bucci paced the Scarlet Hawks with 14 points, including 4-9 from three-point range. Bucci also collected 2 rebounds, had 1 assist and 2 steals
  • Chloe Churilla with a double-double of 12 points and a game-high 11 rebounds. Churilla shot 5-6 from the field. She added 2 assists
  • Grace Goodnough with 12 points on 6-12 shooting. She added 2 rebounds and 1 steal
  • Allie Sillo with 9 points on 3-8 shooting from three-point range
  • Halle Williams with 7 points on 3-4 shooting
  • Suzy Whall with 6 points and 10 rebounds, while adding 2 assists
  • Berit Rusing with 7 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists and 1 steal
  • Kaya Jones and Camden Joko with 4 and 3 assists, respectively
