Second Half Blitz By Adrian Sends Women's Lacrosse To Defeat

Chicago, Ill. - A close first half for the Illinois Tech women's lacrosse team turned into a nightmare of a second half, as Adrian College outscored the Scarlet Hawks 12-1 in the back half en route to a 19-6 road victory for the Bulldogs on a cold late afternoon non-conference match at Stuart Field. The Scarlet Hawks fell to 1-2 on the season, while the Bulldogs improved to 2-1.

First Quarter (Adrian 5 - Illinois Tech 4)
Adrian wasted no time getting on the board, as Maggie Bean took a feed from Zoe Weber and netted the first goal 25 seconds into the match. Bean would score again unassisted at 11:39 to put the Bulldogs up 2-0. Illinois Tech would answer less than a minute later when Antonia Martinez scored unassisted at 10:43. 17 seconds later Kelly Hitchcock would find the back on the net on a feed from Faith Busche to tie the score at 2-2. Hitchcock would score again at the 8:00 mark to put the Scarlet Hawks out front for the first time, 3-2. Mariana Miller and Sarah Gross would score a pair of goals in 42 seconds to put the Bulldogs back out front 4-3. Martinez would score her second of the game for the Hawks at 3:53 to tie the score at 4-4. But just under a minute later Emily Crager would find the back of the net for Adrian to give the Bulldogs a 5-4 lead they would hold on to at the end of the quarter.

Second Quarter (Adrian 2 - Illinois Tech 1)
The second quarter proved to be a much tighter frame, with only three goals tallied. Adrian's Miller scored a pair of goals in the second quarter sandwiched around a Kelly Hitchcock goal for the Scarlet Hawks to give Adrian a 7-5 lead heading into the half.

Third Quarter (Adrian 8 - Illinois Tech 0)
With Hitchcock earning her second yellow card of the match early in the third quarter, the Illinois Tech offense dried up in the second half. Adrian was able to blank the Hawks 8-0 in the third quarter, with Zoe Weber scoring three goals, Miller scoring a pair, and individual tallies for Lucia Commare, Emily Crager and Sarah Gross.

Fourth Quarter (Adrian 4 - Illinois Tech 1)
An unassisted tally by Miller and a pair of Weber goals gave the Bulldogs an 18-5 lead midway through the final quarter, making it twelve consecutive goals for Adrian. Martinez would break the scoring drought for the Scarlet Hawks at 4:43 when she scored on a free position shot. Miller finished out the scoring in the match with a tally at 2:30 on an assist from Maggie Bean.
