Chicago, Ill. - The Illinois Tech swimming and diving team returned from break and opened the second half of their competition season hosting a double-dual meet against North Central College and Manchester University Saturday afternoon at Ekco Pool. The Scarlet Hawks put on a dominating performance, winning the head-to-head matchups on both the men's and women's side for the double-dual sweep.
The men's team defeated North Central 162-43 and Manchester 137-82, while the women's team defeated North Central 123-65 and Manchester 124-51.
The Scarlet Hawks came away from the meet with 15 first-place finishes over the 24 meet events: 8 on the women's side and 7 on the men's side.
The men's and women's teams each won both of the team relay events: the 200 yard medley relay and the 400 yard freestyle relay.
The top individual finishers on the women's side were
Anna Malik and
Claire van Biljon, who each won two events.
Don Rose and
Ian Novak were the top finishers on the men's side, each with a first place and a third place finish.
Overall, the Scarlet Hawks had 15 first-place finishes, 12 second-place finishes, and 12 third place finishes.
