Men’s Volleyball Drops Non-Conference Match to Judson

Chicago, Ill. – For a Tuesday night match-up, the Illinois Tech Scarlet Hawks men's volleyball team hosted the Judson University Eagles in a non-conference game inside the Keating Sports Center. Still looking for their first win of the season, the Hawks hoped Tuesday night would be their night. Unfortunately for them, the Eagles had other plans. The four-set match saw the Eagles (2-0) leave with a 3-1 victory over the Hawks (0-3). 

JUDSON UNIVERSITY 3 – ILLINOIS TECH 1 

(25-22, 20-25, 25-19, 25-18) 

SET ONE: JUDSON 25 - ILLINOIS TECH 22

  • Saw eight ties. 

  • Last tie came at 21-21 before the Eagles went on a 4-1 run to close out the set.  

SET TWO: ILLINOIS TECH 25 - JUDSON 20

  • Saw three ties. 

  • After tying the set at 3-3, the Hawks continued a 9-3 run to take the lead. For the remainder of the set, the Hawk stayed ahead.  

SET THREE: JUDSON 25 - ILLINOIS TECH 19

  • Saw seven ties.  

  • Following a Hawks 9-4 lead, the Eagles went on a 6-point run to jump ahead. Five ties followed before the Eagles took off on a 5-point run to take the lead for one final time.  

SET FOUR: JUDSON 25 - ILLINOIS TECH 18

  • Saw six ties. 

  • The final tie came at 12-12 before the Eagles picked up five straight points. The Hawks would come within two at 18-16 following an Eagle service error but were unable to get any offense going. The Eagles closed out the set with a 7-2 run.

The Hawks will be back in action on Saturday, February 1st, when the partake in the IWU Tri-Match hosted by Illinois Wesleyan University in Bloomington, IL. In the tri-match, the Hawks will take on Illinois Wesleyan at 11:00 AM and then Trine University at 1:30 PM.
