Mequon, Wis. - Looking to get back in the win column, the Illinois Tech women's basketball team traveled north to take on Concordia Wisconsin Wednesday night in a Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference matchup. Unfortunately the Scarlet Hawks got off to a slow start in the first half, only scoring 16 points. Despite a much better performance in the second half, the Hawks couldn't overcome their early deficit, falling to the Falcons 66-48. The Scarlet Hawks saw their record drop to 7-11 overall and 3-6 in NACC play. The Falcons improved to 8-10 overall and 7-2 in conference play.
Trailing 15-10 after the opening quarter, the Hawks were held to just six points in the second quarter, as Concordia Wisconsin used a 9-0 run towards the end of the second quarter to close out the first half with a 32-16 lead. The Scarlet Hawks played the Falcons nearly even in the second half, scoring 32 points. But the first half deficit proved to big of a hole for the Hawks to climb out of. Illinois Tech shot 36% from the field for the game. The Falcons shot 46%.
Kaya Jones led the Scarlet Hawks with 14 points, shooting 4-8 from the field and converting on 5 free throws.
Chloe Churilla added 12 points and 5 rebounds, while
Grace Goodnough had 8 points and 6 rebounds. Gracie McNabb led the Falcons with 17 points, including 6-7 from the field. Aubrey DeBauch added a double-double for the Falcons with 12 points and 11 rebounds.
