Wauwatosa, Wis. — Illinois Tech Women's Soccer (12-1-1, 8-0-0) continues their NACC conferance dominance secured a 2-0 victory over Wisconsin Lutheran College (7-4-0, 4-3-0) with Illinois Tech's defense recording a shutout.
Illinois Tech opened the first half with a strong start, as
Kayla Thomas scored in the 4th minute, giving the visiting team an early 1-0 lead. Despite several fouls and offsides, the Scarlet Hawks maintained pressure on the Warriors, generating multiple corner kicks and shots on goal throughout the half. The defense held firm, allowing no goals and keeping the score 1-0 in favor of Illinois Tech at the end of the first half.
The second half saw Illinois Tech extend their lead with a goal from
Tvesa Vathulya at the 72nd minute, assisted by
Kayla Smith. Illinois Tech maintained offensive pressure with multiple corner kicks and shots, including efforts from
Joanne Porter and
Abby Cooley.
Emmy Anderson contributed a crucial save against a shot by Morgan Bluhm to preserve the shutout. The half concluded with Illinois Tech holding a 2-0 advantage over the Warriors.
