Mequon, Wis. – On Saturday, October 18, Illinois Tech Cross Country closed out its regular season at the Wisconsin Private College Championships hosted by Concordia University Wisconsin on the CUW Cross Country Course.
The Scarlet Hawks wrapped up their regular-season schedule with a strong showing, racing as a full men's squad which is something not seen much this year and continuing to build momentum heading into the postseason. Both the men's and women's teams saw season-best efforts that built confidence as we look ahead to the conference championships.
On the men's team, Lane Regan was the top finisher with a time of 29:06.9, the 18th best time out of 59 runners. John David Lopez ran new personal best of 36:11.3
On the women's side, Sophia Halama was a top five finisher, coming in 5th out of 73 runners with a time of 24:23.9. Genisis de La Garza and Paige McEnerny once again set the tone, both securing new lifetime bests of 33:53.2 and 29:02.8, respectively.
Head Coach Tyler McQuality reflected positively on how the Scarlet Hawks have progressed through the fall:
"One last regular season meet for our team was a strong showing in hot and sunny conditions again. We've put in the work, and I can't wait to see what we do at conference."
When asked about his race Senior Lane Reagan has his mind set on the conference race in just two weeks:
"It wasn't ideal, but we got after it. These mid-season meets are just practice for the big dance, conference."
