Women's Volleyball Stays Hot with 3-0 Win Against Andrews

Chicago, Ill — Women's Volleyball (9-12, 4-4 NACC) swept Andrews University in straight sets on Tuesday evening a non conference match up at the Keating Sports Center, winning 25-14, 25-18, 25-8, with Illinois Tech tallying 14 service aces to dominate the match.

Illinois Tech began the match against the Cardinals with strong offensive plays, taking an early lead and maintaining it throughout the set. Lilia Donaldson and Ana Jones contributed crucial kills, with Veronica Lopez and Olivia McMath setting up several scoring opportunities. McMath's back-to-back service aces widened the gap, pushing the score to 7-2 in favor of Illinois Tech. Despite some resistance from the Cardinals, including a kill by Fiorella Oudri and a service ace from Audrey Lim, Illinois Tech solidified their dominance with a final service ace from Maya Zinkiewicz, sealing the first set at 25-14.

Illinois Tech secured the second set with a 25-18 victory over the Cardinals, highlighted by a strong offensive performance. Karla Leonte initiated the scoring with a kill, while McMath contributed with a service ace. Andrews managed to level the score at 9-9, taking advantage of several attack errors by Illinois Tech players. However, Ana Jones propelled Illinois Tech forward with a series of kills, tallying three consecutive points to shift the momentum. Taryn Jones also delivered critical points with her serving, including two aces, helping Illinois Tech close out the set decisively.

Illinois Tech dominated the third set against the Cardinals, securing a decisive 25-8 victory. The home team capitalized on a series of errors by Andrews, including multiple attack errors and bad sets. McMath played a key role during a pivotal stretch, serving an ace and contributing to several scoring plays. Leonte and Erin Nothdorf were instrumental in extending the lead, with Nothdorf closing the set by delivering back-to-back kills. The Cardinals struggled to counter the momentum as Illinois Tech maintained control throughout the period.
