Illinois Tech began the first set with a strong performance, taking an early lead with
Ana Jones securing the opening point on a kill. A key sequence saw
Victoria Aspurez deliver a block and a kill, contributing to a 3-0 lead.
Sydney Wilson added to the momentum with a kill, and
Karla Trautmann Mendez's service aces helped extend the lead to 8-3. Although the Inferno responded with points from Holly King and Beyonca Hereford, the Scarlet Hawks maintained control. Aspurez was instrumental in closing the set with three consecutive kills, culminating in a 25-20 victory for Illinois Tech.
