Women's Soccer Scores Seven on Senior Day

Chicago, Ill — Women's Soccer (10-0-1, 6-0-0) dominated Marian University (5-5-3, 2-3-1) in a commanding 7-0 victory on Saturday at Stuart Field. Before kickoff, Illinois Tech recognized their seniors athletes and their families. Congratulations to Gabriella Baltes, Mary Frampton, Rachael Fujimori, Mackenzie Nelson, Kayla Smith, Kayla Thomas, and Allison Murray as they continue their senior campaigns on the pitch. 

The match commenced with Illinois Tech establishing an early advantage, as Kayla Thomas scored in the third minute, with an assist from Kelly Hitchcock. The Hawks continued to press forward on the attach, resulting in Grace Yager extending the lead to 2-0 by the 17th minute. Taylor Hernandez added to the tally in the 23rd minute, making it 3-0. Just minutes later, Gabriella Baltes capitalized on a setup from Hernandez to put the Scarlet Hawks ahead 4-0. The half closed with the home team maintaining their aggressive approach, finishing with a commanding 4-0 lead over the Sabres at halftime.

The second half was a continuation on the first with Illinois Tech maintaining offensive pressure, as Kayla Smith led an early surge that resulted in multiple shots and corner kicks. Despite several attempts being saved or hitting the woodwork, the persistence paid off in the 75th minute when Abby Cooley found the back of the net, extending the lead.

Shortly after, Mary Frampton capitalized on a penalty kick, further increasing the Scarlet Hawks' advantage. The momentum continued with Sofia Rodriguez-Magid scoring in the 81st minute, bringing the score to 7-0. The team sustained their dominance throughout the half, closing the match with a decisive home victory.
