De Pere, Wis. — Illinois Tech Men's Soccer secured a decisive 3-0 victory over St. Norbert College in the Quarterfinals of the NACC tournament. The win marks the Scarlet Hawks first NACC tournament victory in program history.
The first half between the Scarlet Hawks and the Green Knights began with both teams struggling to find offensive momentum. Illinois Tech's
Tomas Rebelatto and
Matthew Watson each attempted early shots, with Rebelatto missing left and Watson's shot sailing over the top right. The Green Knights were caught offside in the 2nd minute, disrupting their initial offensive drive. The Scarlet Hawks had opportunities from two corner kicks, the first at 00:53 and another at 21:20, but neither resulted in a goal.
Paul Balea nearly broke the deadlock with a shot that struck the right woodwork in the 41st minute. The half ended scoreless.
Illinois Tech came out in the second half on a mission, adding three goals to their tally. Rebelatto opened the scoring in the 57th minute, assisted by
Mateo Secaira. Secaira then extended the lead with a solo goal in the 72nd minute. In the final moments, Rebelatto struck again in the 90th minute, with another assist from Secaira, sealing the 3-0 win. St. Norbert managed several attempts late as they looked to close the Hawks advantage, but Illinois Tech's defense held firm, with
David Rodriguez making multiple key saves preserving the clean sheet and win.
