Senior Scoring Leads Women’s Basketball to 10th Victory

Milwaukee, Wis. – The Illinois Tech Scarlet Hawks secured a commanding 88–62 win over the Alverno Inferno, thanks to double-digit scoring performances from all three seniors in their final career games. Illinois Tech recorded its 10th win of the season, finishing with a 10-15 overall record and a 6-10 mark in NACC play. Alverno concluded its season at 2-23 and 0-16 in conference competition.

The first quarter saw Illinois Tech and Alverno trading early baskets, setting a competitive tone. Alverno opened the game with a fast-break layup by senior Morgan Golabowski, but Julia Bucci quickly responded to tie it. After a back-and-forth offensive exchange, Illinois Tech led 19-14 at the four-minute mark. That's when senior Julia Bucci took over, propelling the Scarlet Hawks to a 29-19 lead by the end of the quarter. In the final minutes of the first, Bucci went 3-for-3 from the field for eight points while adding a steal and two rebounds.

Illinois Tech controlled the second quarter, extending its lead with efficient scoring and strong defense. The Scarlet Hawks maintained momentum throughout the quarter with key baskets from all three seniors. Julia Bucci, Kaya Jones, and Allie Sillo combined for 16 points, stretching the lead to 51-29 at halftime.

In the third quarter, Alverno outscored the Scarlet Hawks 23-13. Key plays from Ventura Gemini and Arlaysia Braggs fueled Alverno's surge, cutting the deficit from 22 to 12 points by the end of the period.

Illinois Tech reasserted control in the fourth quarter, returning to its first-half dominance to seal the victory. An early Bucci steal led to a Cam Joko three-pointer, sparking a run that extended the lead to 67-52. Key layups by Allie Sillo, Halle Williams, and Kaya Jones, along with clutch free throws from Bucci and Jones, helped Illinois Tech close out the game. The seniors fittingly capped off the season, combining to score seven of the final nine points as the Scarlet Hawks secured an 88-62 victory.
