Fond du Lac, Wis. - The Illinois Tech women's basketball team got off to a strong start in their game at Marian on Saturday afternoon, leading the Sabres by six points after one quarter. Unfortunately for the Scarlet Hawks, the strong opening quarter was followed by a second quarter in which the Sabres outscored the Hawks 29-9. Despite the Hawks outscoring the Sabres in the second half, the second quarter deficit proved too much to overcome, as Marian took the victory 81-69. The Scarlet Hawks fell to 8-13 overall and 4-8 in Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference play. The Sabres improved to 6-15 overall and 4-8 in conference play.
Camden Joko and
Julia Bucci continued their strong play for the Hawks. Joko led the team with 20 points, including going 6-11 from three-point range. Over her last three games, Joko has scored 41 points, averaging 14 points per game, while shooting 43% from three-point range on 12-28 shooting behind the arc. Bucci added 14 points while pulling down 6 rebounds. Bucci is averaging 16 points per game over her last three games, while shooting 12-32 from three-point range for 38%.
