Fond du Lac, Wis. - A tough season for the Illinois Tech men's basketball team continued on Saturday afternoon as a slow first half by the Scarlet Hawks proved to much to overcome in their 72-50 loss at Marian. For the Hawks, they fell to 3-18 on the season and 2-12 in Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) play. The Sabres improved to 14-7 overall and evened their NACC record at 7-7.
The Scarlet Hawks actually had a good start to the opening half, holding the Sabres scoreless and building a 5-0 lead five minutes into the half on a free throw by
Joshua Iguade sandwiched between layups by
Jace Gooley and
Allan Watatani. The Sabres would respond with a 7-2 run to tie the game 7-7 with 11:27 remaining in the half. The Sabres would outscore the Hawks 33-15 the rest of the half to take a 40-22 halftime lead. Despite a more competitive second half in which the Hawks held the Sabres to 32 points, they couldn't generate enough offense to overcome their halftime deficit.
