Lake Myrtle, FL – Illinois Tech Baseball continued its Florida trip on Sunday, but the luck of the Irish did not follow them, as they dropped both games while struggling to keep their opponents off the board on a windy day in Florida. Illinois Tech falls to 3-6 after the pair of losses.
Game 1: Illinois Tech 9, UW-Stevens Point 19
How It Happened
Illinois Tech struck first when Michael Paxson's RBI single brought home Jack Friar in the first inning. However, UW-Stevens Point responded with a five-run bottom half, highlighted by RBI hits from Nick Argersinger, Brennan Huber, Kamden Oliver, and Mason Fink.
The Scarlet Hawks fought back, with Luke Yachnin crushing a two-run homer in the second inning to cut the deficit to 5-3. Illinois Tech continued its surge, taking an 8-5 lead in the fourth inning after a combination of aggressive baserunningand timely hits. Jack Friar stole home while Michael Paxson swiped second, and clutch singles from Philip Bentz, Jack Finch, and Josh Minami put Illinois Tech on top.
However, the Pointers quickly responded, reclaiming the lead 9-8 in the bottom of the fourth, capped by another Oliver double. Illinois Tech stayed within striking distance after a successful squeeze bunt from Josh Minami in the sixth made it 10-9, but UW-Stevens Point took control from there. A solo home run by Huber, multiple sacrifice flies, and a massive eighth inning—where the Pointers tacked on six more runs—sealed the game.

How It Happened
TCNJ's offense erupted in a dominant 20-2 victory over Illinois Tech. The scoring began in the second inning when Tyler Provost launched a two-run homer to left-center. Later in the inning, Gianni Marano doubled to left-center, clearing the bases with three RBIs and extending the lead to 5-0.
TCNJ continued its offensive onslaught with a ten-run fourth inning, blowing the game open. By the end of the fourth, TCNJ held an 18-0 lead. Illinois Tech managed to scratch across two runs in the fifth, thanks to a
Christopher Degroot RBI triple followed by a
Tanner Jenkins RBIÂ groundout.
