Lake Forest, Ill.— With a home playoff game and pride on the line, the Illinois Tech Scarlet Hawks (8-8, 7-4) took on the host Lake Forest College Foresters (9-7, 8-3) in the final Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) contest of the regular season. Unfortunately, the Foresters were playing for something too, upending the Hawks 15-4 thanks to a blazing first half. With this result, the Hawks secure the #6 seed in the NACC tournament. They will take on the #3 seed Concordia Wisconsin in the first round of the tournament this Saturday at 12:00 PM up in Mequon, Wisconsin.
How It Happened
1st Quarter – Lake Forest 4, Illinois Tech 0
It took a while for either team to get scoring, but Lake Forest finally struck first at 6:10 with an unassisted strike from John Shannon. The Foresters added three more goals over the next four minutes to finish the first quarter up ahead 4-0.
2nd Quarter – Lake Forest 9, Illinois Tech 1
The Foresters continued to dominate possession, scoring 8 unanswered goals before the Hawks were able to end the drought. With 2:04 left in the half, Alexander Stokrp got the scoreboard moving for the Hawks on an unassisted effort. The Foresters added one more late to head into halftime up 9-1.
3rd Quarter – Lake Forest 13, Illinois Tech 2
An unassisted mark from Diego Sosa at 3:35 put a stop to a 3-0 run from the Foresters. The Hawks had 3 shots on goal to the Foresters 7 in the third quarter.
4th Quarter – Lake Forest 15, Illinois Tech 4
Connor Montgomery scored unassisted at 10:39 for his 26th goal of the season and Jackson Brass followed on a Stokrp feed at 9:44 for his 30th to add some stats for the Hawks. The Foresters were able to tack on 2 more as well, for a final result of 15-4.
