Verona, Wis. — After securing their first conference win of the season Wednesday night against Concordia Chicago, the Illinois Tech men's soccer team was looking to pull even in Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference(NACC) play when they traveled to Wisconsin to take on first-place Edgewood University Saturday afternoon. The Eagles had other ideas, as they secured a 2-1 victory over the Scarlet Hawks.
Illinois Tech holds a record of 4-5-1 overall and 1-3-0 in conference play. Edgewood University improves to 6-1-2 overall and remains undefeated in conference play at 4-0-0.
Edgewood's two goals came from a total of 25 shots, overcoming a strong nine-save performance by Illinois Tech goalkeeper
Colin Thomas. Illinois Tech managed to score once in the second half but fell short in their comeback attempt.
Illinois Tech and Edgewood University clashed in the first half, with the Eagles taking the lead through a goal by Liam Moreira in the 28th minute, assisted by Brandon Kaup. Edgewood dominated offensively, recording multiple shots on goal, including attempts from Connor Gage and Gabe Voung, which were saved by Illinois Tech's Thomas. Illinois Tech managed only a couple of shots, with
Cal Graham's attempt missing the target. The half concluded with Edgewood leading 1-0.

Mateo Secaira leveled the score with a goal in the 54th minute, bringing the match to 1-1. For Secaira, However, Edgewood responded quickly, reclaiming the lead with a goal by Cristian Torres-Gale, assisted by Gabe Voung, just nine minutes later. Illinois Tech's goalkeeper, Thomas, made several crucial saves throughout the period, notably stopping shots from Torres-Gale and Voung. Despite Illinois Tech's efforts, including a late shot on goal by
Adrian Cogolludo, Edgewood maintained their advantage, ending the period with a 2-1 victory.
