WAUWATOSA, Wis. — Looking to win their 4th consecutive conference match, Illinois Tech women's tennis defeated Wisconsin Lutheran 7-0 on Thursday in NACC play. The Scarlet Hawks swept all three doubles matches and won at each of the six singles positions.
The Scarlet Hawks are 5-3 overall and 5-1 in NACC play. The Warriors are 1-7 overall and 1-6 in NACC play.
The Hawks host St. Norbert next Saturday at XS Tennis in the NACC regular season finale for both teams. If the Hawks win the match, they will clinch the #2 seed in the NACC Women's Tennis tournament in the spring.
How It Happened
The Scarlet Hawks earned the doubles point with wins on all three courts.
Martyna Kalinowska and
Annaliese Kielmeyer defeated Maddy Olson and Bryce Banick 6-3 at No. 1 doubles,
Maia Lecuona Ramos and
Thea Salcedo beat Annaliese Bruns and Addie Prochazka 6-0 at No. 2, and
Angelica Conwell and
Kira Lai topped Tai Mitchell and Leah Moen 6-2 at No. 3.
The Scarlet Hawks carried that lead into singles and added straight-set wins throughout the lineup. Kalinowska defeated Olson 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1 singles, Kielmeyer beat Prochazka 6-0, 6-1 at No. 2, and Lecuona Ramos posted a 6-2, 6-1 victory over Mitchell at No. 3.
Salcedo added a 6-0, 6-1 win over Banick at No. 4 singles,
Paige Geiger defeated Bruns 6-0, 6-0 at No. 5, and Conwell beat Moen 6-0, 6-0 at No. 6. With the singles completion order not distinguishing a clinching court, the sweep produced a 7-0 Scarlet Hawks victory over the Warriors.
