Joliet, Ill. — The Illinois Tech Men's Tennis team (1-2) made a clean sweep against St. Francis (0-3) with a 7-0 victory on Sunday at Challenge Fitness. The Scarlet Hawks dominated all six singles matches and clinched the doubles point by winning all three pairs. The team win was the first in the young season for the Scarlet Hawks.
How It Happened
Illinois Tech took the doubles point with commanding performances at No. 1 and No. 2.
Alexander Feher and
Tanay Sharma set the tone with a 6-0 win over the Saints' Jedriel Bondoc and John Kenny at No. 1.
Tejas Sheth and Nicolas Gil secured the point by defeating Lucas Fernandez and Jack O'Donnell 6-1 at No. 2, while the No. 3 match with
Pol Dueso Guell and
Joseph Au went unfinished.
In singles play, the Scarlet Hawks kept their dominance on display. Pedro Roca beat Bondoc 6-2, 6-2 at No. 1, and Dueso Guell followed with a 6-3, 6-0 win over Kenny at No. 2. At No. 3,
Hozumi Tada added to the lead with a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Fernandez.
Au and Sheth extended the lead with straight-set wins, as Au toppled O'Donnell 6-0, 6-0 at No. 4, and Sheth mirrored that score against Justin Joseph at No. 5. The No. 6 match featuring Gil was unfinished, but by then, the Scarlet Hawks had already sealed their triumph.
