Holland, Mich. —Men's Lacrosse dropped a midweek road matchup to Hope College 13-2 on Wednesday. The Scarlet Hawks are now 0-6 for the season, while Hope remains unbeaten at 5-0.
How It Happened
Illinois Tech started strong with
Duwayne Aikins winning the opening faceoff, but were unable to turn it into an early goal. Hope's Weston Godbold kicked off the scoring at 10:09, followed by a goal from Preston Hoexum at 9:13, assisted by Godbold. Elliott Heethuis and Gibson Heethuis followed up with goals at 6:40 and 4:56. Jack Zuiderveen wrapped up the quarter with a goal at 00:09, putting Hope up 5-0.
Ryan Littler's saves kept Illinois Tech in the fight.
The second quarter saw
Connor Montgomery find the net for Illinois Tech at 11:29, his sixth goal of the season, narrowing the gap to 5-1. Hope responded quickly, with goals from Jack Zuiderveen at 08:42 and Andon Rieger at 04:08, followed by another from Zuiderveen at 00:27. A late goal by Preston Hoexum at 00:19 extended Hope's lead to 9-1.
In the third quarter, Hope kept up the pressure, with Ben Torrence scoring at 13:28 and Jack McNamara adding another at 6:16, both assisted by Gibson Heethuis. John Foster found the net at 4:25, making it 12-1.
The Scarlet Hawks got on the board again in the fourth quarter with a man-up goal from
Diego Sosa at 13:02, assisted by
Connor Montgomery. Hope answered back with Jackson Arnold's goal at 1:59, sealing their 13-2 victory.
