Chicago, Ill. — In another late-night match at the XS Tennis Center, Illinois Tech Men's Tennis (3-5) faced a tough match against Roosevelt Men's Tennis (4-8), falling 6-1 Thursday night. Despite the loss, Pol Dueso Guell was able to snag a singles victory at the number 3 spot and a doubles win in the number 3 match with partner Tejas Sheth.

How It Happened

Roosevelt started strong, clinching the doubles point with wins on courts one and two. Juan Caicedo and Justus Peters overcame Pedro Roca and Hozumi Tada, 6-3, at No. 1 doubles, while Demille Scarabello and Abhay Singh secured a 6-1 victory over Alexander Feher and Joseph Au at No. 2 doubles. Illinois Tech fought back with a win at No. 3 doubles, as Tejas Sheth and Pol Dueso Guell defeated Lluc Mascaro Sierra and Chakib Madcur, 6-3.

In singles, the Lakers extended their lead with Caicedo's 6-2, 7-5 win over Roca at No. 1 singles, and Jules Rumeau's 6-4, 6-2 victory against Feher at No. 2 singles. Dueso Guell delivered for the Scarlet Hawks with a 6-3, 6-3 win over Juan Pablo Espinosa at No. 3 singles. However, Roosevelt responded with Madcur's 6-4, 6-1 result over Tada at No. 4 singles.

Roosevelt continued their dominance as Scarabello secured a 6-2, 6-2 win against Au at No. 5 singles. The match wrapped up with Mascaro Sierra's narrow victory at No. 6 singles, edging out Sheth 6-2, 7-6(3), sealing the overall win for the Lakers.
