Chicago, Ill. - Ryan Fostiak and Tommy Jewell of baseball are the recipients of Scarlet Hawk of the Week honors for the week of April 6th.
Fostiak, a freshman outfielder and Mechanical Engineering major from Wauconda, Illinois, paced the Scarlet Hawks offensively last week as the Hawks went 4-1. Over 5 games played, Fostiak went 12/21, batting .571 with an .857 slugging % and a .615 on-base %. Fostiak also drove in 9 runs, scored 10 times, belted 3 doubles and 1 home run, walked 4 times, was 4-4 in stolen bases, and led all outfielders with 16 putouts.
Jewell, a freshman pitcher/utility player and Mechanical Engineering major from Mason, Ohio, made two appearances last week, including a complete game win against St. Norbert last Saturday. Jewell pitched a total of 10 innings, scattered 8 hits while allowing only 3 runs, striking out 2 while holding opponents to a .222 batting average. The complete game on Saturday also helped save a taxed bullpen against St. Norbert.
