Chicago, Ill. - Tanner Jenkins of baseball and Martyna Kalinowska of women's tennis are the recipients of Scarlet Hawk of the Week honors for the week of May 4th.
Jenkins, a junior outfielder and Civil Engineering major from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, hit .429 with a .500 on-base percentage over the Scarlet Hawks two NACC tournament games last week. Jenkins went 3/7, with 4 runs scored, was 2-2 in stolen bases and led all Hawk outfielders with 8 putouts.
Kalinowska, a sophomore no. 1 singles and doubles player and Computer Science major from Homer Glen, Illinois, was the Scarlet Hawks' top performer in their NCAA tournament match against Luther College last week. Making her first NCAA appearance, although she didn't record official wins due to match clinch rules, Kalinowska was well on her way to a win at no. 1 singles, leading 6-4, 4-1 when the match was called. In no. 1 doubles, Kalinowska and partner Thea Salcedo held a 4-3 lead over their Luther opponents prior to doubles play being halted.
