Hammond, Ind. — Illinois Tech men's tennis lost to Purdue Northwest men's tennis 6-1 on Friday in the Scarlet Hawks first tune-up match of the fall portion of their schedule. The Hawks earned its point at No. 1 singles but dropped all three doubles matches and five of six singles contests.
Illinois Tech is 0-1 overall. The Lions are 1-0 overall.

The Lions earned the doubles point by winning all three completed matches. Chicano Melero and Gauthier Sitbon defeated
Tanay Sharma and
Santiago Jurado 6-3 at No. 1 doubles, Pedro Diaz and Raphael Valente defeated
Pol Dueso Guell and
Nihar Girish 6-3 at No. 2, and Lukas Sorgic and Diego Ramos defeated
Edvard Veres Bergsten and
Tejas Sheth 6-3 at No. 3.
Illinois Tech picked up its singles point at No. 1, where Sharma defeated Chicano Melero 6-2, 6-3. The Lions took the remaining singles courts, with Pedro Diaz defeating Bergsten 6-4, 6-1 at No. 2 and Gauthier Sitbon defeating Dueso Guell 6-1, 6-2 at No. 3.
Raphael Valente defeated Jurado 6-4, 6-2 at No. 4, Diego Ramos defeated
Joseph Au 6-3, 6-1 at No. 5 and Albert Wen defeated Girish 6-1, 6-2 at No. 6.
