Chicago, Ill. — With Maia Lecouna Ramos unable to play to take her customary number 3 singles and number 2 doubles spot, Illinois Tech women's tennis head coach
Jack Lunn had to do some lineup shuffling in their home match against Concordia Chicago Tuesday afternoon at XS Tennis. The shuffling paid off, as the Scarlet Hawks defeated the Cougars 7-0, sweeping all three doubles matches and all six singles matches.
The Scarlet Hawks are 3-3 overall and 3-1 in NACC play. The Cougars are 0-6 overall and 0-3 in NACC play.
How It Happened
Illinois Tech earned the doubles point with wins at all three positions.
Martyna Kalinowska and
Annaliese Kielmeyer defeated Amelia Engelman and Amirah Shakir 6-2 at No. 1 doubles,
Angelica Conwell and
Kira Lai topped Brianna Bentz and Hannah Upole 6-4 at No. 2, and
Paige Geiger and
Hannah Malin beat Abigail Krueger and Sarah Gustafson 6-2 at No. 3.
The Scarlet Hawks followed by sweeping singles. Kalinowska defeated Engelman 6-0, 6-2 at No. 1 singles, Kielmeyer beat Bentz 6-1, 6-0 at No. 2 and
Thea Salcedo posted a 6-0, 6-2 win over Shakir at No. 3. Geiger added a 7-5, 6-3 victory against Upole at No. 4, Conwell defeated Krueger 7-6(2), 6-0 at No. 5, and
Leah Guest beat Gustafson 7-5, 6-1 as Illinois Tech finished a 7-0 match win.
