Coach Standell King, affectionately known as “Tank”, enters his second season on the Scarlet Hawks staff. Tank began his collegiate coaching career at former NAIA powerhouse Robert Morris University, and merged from RMU to Roosevelt in the spring of 2020 til 2022 helping lead the Lakers to an 19-12 overall record after the RMU-RU acquisition.

In King’s second season, RMU earned the CCAC Conference’s fifth seed after finishing 16-15 and 12-8 in the regular season. During 2019-2020 season, junior guard Cedric Jefferson earned CCAC All-Conference Second-Team honors and led the NAIA in steals per game.

Prior to Robert Morris University, King worked as an assistant men’s basketball coach at Collins High School in Chicago, and also produced one of the largest exposure camps in the city. The camp impacted nearly 80 players who achieved college admission as scholarship student-athletes. He was responsible for helping 10 basketball players springboard their career to the professional level and in the NBA.

King is a member of the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC). He was raised in Chicago and currently resides in the northern suburbs with his wife, Dr. King, and his daughter Olivia.
