Justin Parra enters his first season as Illinois Tech assistant women’s volleyball coach in 2023-
2024.

Parra has been coaching at the club level at Michio Chicago Volleyball Academy for the past two
years where his U17 girls team placed 5th at the 2023 USAV Jr National Championships. Prior to
that he coached at the club level at Chicago Elite Volleyball Club for 9 years.

He also served as the head girls (1 season) and head boys (5 seasons) volleyball coach at Whitney
M. Young Magnet High School from 2018 to 2021, the head girls varsity and junior varsity coach
positions at DePaul College Prep from 2017-2019, various level boys coaching positions at St.
Patrick High School from 2014-2017.

While at Whitney Young, the boys varsity team made it to the regional championship (2019) where
they beat Saint Ignatius College Prep to advance to sectionals, and the girls varsity team made it to
the regional championship (2021) where they beat Oak Park River Forest for the regional title and
advanced to sectional play where they lost against Mother McAuley, a perennial state contender.

Parra played four years of volleyball as a setter at St. Xavier University (3 years) and Robert Morris
University (1 year) in Chicago, Illinois, where he studied Business Administration.

Parra grew up on the north side of Chicago, Illinois and attended St. Patrick High School where he
played volleyball for four years.
