Andrew Buchholz

Andrew Buchholz enters his first season as an assistant coach for the Illinois Tech women's basketball program in 2025. 

Buchholz previously served as a full-time assistant coach at Roosevelt University in Chicago. During his time with the Lakers, Buchholz coached the Defensive Player of the Year, Freshman of the Year, & six All Conference Players over two seasons. Roosevelt University posted a 16-13 mark in 2023-2024, the program’s second best overall record in its history, and finished 14-6 in league play. 

In his two years at Roosevelt, Buchholz created game scouting reports, led and assisted player development and helped with all recruiting for the program, and handled graphic design and social media duties. He also aided with all on- and off- campus recruiting activities for the Lakers. 

Buchholz currently serves as head coach of the prominent “Illinois Rockets” AAU program in Chicago’s western suburbs, coaching the 14u team during the spring and summer. 

Buchholz will have a large role in recruiting for the Scarlet Hawks while also managing team travel, helping with in-game preparation and scouting, video and social media, and will be extensively involved in player development. 

Prior to Roosevelt, Andrew was a talent evaluator and recruiting analyst for A10talk.com. A native of Glen Ellyn, Ill., Buchholz earned his Bachelor of Science in Environmental Engineering from Loyola University Chicago in 2019. Andrew and his husband Geoff reside in Chicago.
