Illinois Tech Unable to Fend off Bethel Attack

Box Score

Chicago, IL - Illinois Tech returned home after a 4-game road stretch to take on the Pilots of Bethel College.  The Pilots were able to strike twice in the 2nd half for the 2-0 win.

IIT goalkeeper Roxanne Myers made some incredible saves in the first half to keep the game scoreless at halftime.  In the 40th minute, Myers turned away an initial low driven shot from Nicole Steller and quickly recovered to make a diving save on the rebound which looked to be a sure goal.  While it gave the Hawks some life, they were unable to get it going on the attacking end.

"Defensively, we did a good job on their best player for the majority of the game but we didn't take advantage of some of our opportunities offensively.  We were not creative enough on attack and that proved to hurt us in the end," said coachAhmet Kose.  "Putting one of our early chances away could have added some momentum to our side."

Steller was able to capitalize on a rebound in the 52nd minute which proved to be the game-winner.  She then assisted on the Pilots 2nd goal to Meagan McPherson who ran into the box for a free header past Myers.

The Scarlet Hawks fall to 1-5 on the year and take on Alverno College Sunday afternoon.
