Women’s Soccer Dominates Dominican - Extends Undefeated Streak

Lake Forest, Ill. - Continuing to build on their undefeated streak, the Illinois Tech Scarlet Hawks women's soccer team wasted no time on Wednesday, October 4, getting on the scoreboard against the Dominican University Stars. The Hawks (10-1-1, 7-0), who scored their first goal within the first three minutes of action, went on to win the contest by a final score of 5-0 over the Stars (4-5-4, 3-2-2). The victory extended the Hawks undefeated streak to eight, which began on September 10. The 3-0 win also marked the Hawks first victory over the Stars since the 2014 season.

How it Happened

  • In just the 3rd minute of play, the Hawks scored their first goal of the game. After earning a corner kick, Lucy Jorjorian sent an over-the-top high ball into the box, straight to where Mary Frampton was standing. The ball would hit off of Frampton, who took a slight swing at it, and slowly rolled towards the goal and under the diving Stars goalkeeper to put the Hawks up early 1-0.

  • The Hawks doubled their lead six minutes later with a goal off the foot of Jayla Anaya. Anaya, who received the ball near half field on the far sideline, took on a Star defender before laying the ball off. In a give-and-go situation, Anaya laid the ball off to Allison Murray who immediately slotted the ball back to Anaya. After receiving the ball, three Star defenders would attempt to close in to stop Anaya, but she would take a big into open space inside the 18-yard box. At the corner of the 6-yard box, Anaya took a left footed shot, sending the ball into the opposite side netting to put the Hawks up 2-0.

  • Goal three came in the 62nd minute when Caitie Chismarich found the back of the net. After earning a throw-in, Jillian Oligsclaeger would throw the ball to Chismarich. Chismarich would receive the ball near the end line, dribble past three Star defenders before looking up and taking a shot just outside the 18-yard box. The shot would go right in between the jumping Stars goalkeeper and the crossbar, giving the Hawks a 3-0 lead.

  • In the 77th minute, the Hawks went up 4-0 with a goal by Sofia Rodriguez-Magid. Rodriguez-Magid scored off a Carolyn Beltran assist when Beltran slotted a through ball into the box to a running Rodriguez-Magid. Rodriguez-Magid was able to take a one-touch right footed shot and place the ball into the opposite side netting for the Hawks fourth goal.

  • The final goal of the game came just two minutes later in the 79th minute from Kaitlyn Walsh. Walsh was able to capitalize on an initial Hawk shot that was deflected by a Star defender. The defender's deflection went straight to Walsh who took a one-touch ground shot that went into the back of the net, giving the Hawks their 5-0 victory.
