Chicago, Ill. - Illinois Tech came into their home match against Concordia Wisconsin with a 5-0-0 conference record, but still remembering it was the Falcons who ended their season last year in the conference championship game on home turf. The Scarlet Hawks got a small level of revenge by beating the Falcons 3-1 Saturday evening at Stuart Field.

How It Happened
  • The Scarlet Hawks opened the scoring in the 6th minute. Kelly Hitchcock took the ball down the left sideline inside Falcons territory, cut to the inside to the top of the penalty area and blasted an a right-footer 18-yards out into the upper right corner for a 1-0 Hawks lead.
  • With under five minutes to play in the first half, the Scarlet Hawks were awarded a free kick about one-third inside the Falcons zone on the left side. Lucy Jorjorian took the kick and drove it to the right side of the goal where Gabriella Baltes was able to head it into the left corner for a 2-0 Illinois Tech lead.
  • With just over three minutes remaining in the match, a steel by Isabella Rapp inside the Scarlet Hawks zone was pushed forward to Sabrina Moore. Illinois Tech goalkeeper Hailey Flannagan came out to challenge Moore, but Moore was able to punch the ball into the back right corner, cutting the Falcons deficit to 2-1, and making it a much tighter match.
  • The Scarlet Hawks would get that goal back 48 seconds later. Kenzie Tokuchi would receive the ball in the middle of the Concordia Wisconsin zone and move to her right where she dropped a pass to a rushing Sophia Arntz coming down the right side. Falcons goalkeeper Brooke Braga also came out of her net to challenge Arntz, but Arntz was able to get a shot off that slowly rolled towards the net. From there, Wiktoria Ucher tapped the ball into an open net, restoring the Scarlet Hawks two-goal advantage.
