Women’s Soccer Draws 1-1 with CUW

Mequon, Wis. – Entering the match as the final two unbeaten teams in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) the Illinois Tech Scarlet Hawks women's soccer team took on the Concordia University Wisconsin Falcons (CUW) in a Saturday afternoon game up north. With both teams entering the contest looking to remain undefeated, both teams would achieve their goal, but not in the way they wanted. The Hawks (7-2-1, 4-0-1) scored first in the contest in the 9th minute. As the game seemed like it was going to go in favor of the Hawks, the Falcons (7-3-1, 5-0-1) slotted one in in the 76th minute, tying the match. Although the Hawks continued to take shot opportunities, no more goals would be recorded as the game ended in a 1-1 draw.  

HOW IT HAPPENED 

  • Throughout the first half, the Hawks went on to out shoot the Falcons 18-1 but were unable to net any more goals. At halftime, the Hawks led the Falcons 1-0.  

  • Just over halfway through in the second half, the Falcons tied the game at 1-1 with Shay Lange scoring the game tying goal with her only shot of the contest. Jacey Read assisted the goal.  

  • The Hawks recorded six more chances on goal before the final whistle but were unable to find the back of the net. The game ended in a 1-1 draw.

FALCON STANDOUTS 

  • Shay Lange – 10 minutes, 1 goal, 1 shot, 1 shot on goal 

  • Jacey Read – 44 minutes, 1 assist, 1 shot, 1 shot on goal 

  • Brei Rozmiarek – 46 minutes, 1 shot, 1 shot on goal
  •  Brooke Braga with 13 saves and only 1 goal allowed

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE 

  • Illinois Tech out shot CUW 36-3 throughout the match, with 14 shots on goal versus 3 

  • The Falcons recorded 13 saves while the Hawks had 2 

  • For corner kicks, the Hawks finished with 3 while the Falcons had 1

The Hawks will host the Dominican University Stars on Wednesday, October 9th at Stuart Field for a 7:00 PM NACC match.
