Chicago, Ill. – Beginning a four-game Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) home game schedule, the Illinois Tech Scarlet Hawks men's basketball team welcomed the undefeated Marian University Sabres to the Keating Sports Center on the night of Wednesday, December 4th. The contest marked the Hawks second conference game of the season and the Sabres first. In the end, the Sabres would remain undefeated as they defeated the Hawks 67-52 and moved to 7-0, 1-0 on the season while the Hawks fell to 1-6, 0-2.
With the starting five of DeAndre Vortes, Dario Biaggi, Joshua Iguade, Nicolas Ortiz, and Garrison Carter on the court and the opening tip going in favor of Iguade and Hawks, the Hawks and Sabres were underway. The Sabres would get the opening basket with a layup at 19:26, and from that point on they would lead for the entirety of the match. After the Sabres built to a 13-point, 36-23 lead at halftime, the Hawks would cut the lead to 8 points in the second half. Unfortunately for the Hawks, that would be the closest they would get as the Sabres pulled away for the rest of the contest, eventually winning the conference match 67-52. Garrison Carter led the Hawks with a double-double of 13 points and 10 rebounds. Carter also added a block, a steal, and an assist to his stats. For the Sabres, Alex Vassilakis led while also recording a double-double of 13 points and 10 rebounds.
