Hilton Head Island, SC. - The Illinois Tech women's tennis team had a rough start to their spring break trip, as the Scarlet Hawks fell to the Saint Mary's College(IN) Belles 9-0 Sunday afternoon at Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. The Scarlet Hawks dropped to 3-11 on the season, while the Belles improved to 7-4.

Doubles Play (Saint Mary's College 3 - Illinois Tech 0)
By far the most competitive match of the day, the Scarlet Hawks number one double team of Hannah Markiewicz and Sofia Zaballa Martinez battled to a tie-breaker before falling 8-7 (7-3) to the Belles' number one tandem of Alayna Campbell and E. Demblans-Dechans. In the other doubles matches, Maria Moran Miranda and Paige Geiger fell 8-2 in the number two doubles match, while Ashley Dame and Rhea Karumura also lost 8-2 in the number three doubles match.

Singles Play (Saint Mary's College 6 - Illinois Tech 0)
The Scarlet Hawks were shut down in singles play, falling in straight sets in all six matches. Zaballa Martinez was able to win three games in her number two singles matchup, while Geiger and Karumuru each won a pair of games in their number three and number six singles matches, respectively.
