Men's Tennis Sweeps Oswego State In Second Match Of Spring Trip

Hilton Head Island, SC. - Rebounding from their trip-opening loss on Tuesday afternoon, the Illinois Tech men's tennis team came out strong in doubles play in their match Thursday afternoon against Oswego State. After taking doubles 3-0, the Scarlet Hawks carried that momentum into singles play, winning all six matches in straight sets for a 9-0 match victory over the Lakers at Hilton Head, S.C.  The Scarlet Hawks improved to 3-7 on the season, while the Lakers fell to 5-2.

In the match, Eduardo Lopez earned his first collegiate doubles victory in his first doubles match, and Avneet Singh earned his first collegiate singles victory.

Doubles Play (Illinois Tech 3 - Oswego State 0)
Illinois Tech's number one and two doubles teams of Davis Housman and Alann Torress and Nabil Fawaz and Pol Dueso Guell, respectively, each won their matches 8-1. Paired together for the first time this season, Avneet Singh and Eduardo Lopez won their number three doubles match 8-3. For Lopez, it was his first doubles match of the season as well, and his first collegiate double victory.

Singles Play (Illinois Tech 6 - Oswego State 0)
The Scarlet Hawks won all six singles matches in straight sets, including a 6-0, 6-0 sweep for Torres in his number two singles match, a 6-1, 6-0 win for Housman in the number one singles match, and a 6-0, 6-1 win for Dueso Guell in his number four singles match. Fawaz took his number three singles match 6-2, 6-3, Lopez claimed the number five singles match 6-1, 6-2, and Singh recorded his first collegiate singles victory in the number six match, 6-3, 6-3.

The Scarlet Hawks final match on their spring break trip will take place Friday afternoon, when they take on Asbury University at 1:00 PM CT at the Hilton Head Beach and Tennis Resort in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina.
